Fishes are not always dangerous. But one of them is for sure. Sharks are definitely one type that can cause your blood to drain from your body and chill going down your spine at mere sight of it. For now, sharks are believed to have existed for no less than 420 million years. At present, there are 440 known diverse species of sharks. Generally, they are present in all seas, but are mostly at a depth of 2000 meters or more. Except for a few species, these sharks are rarely found in fresh water.
Sharks are known to possess the most powerful jaws. When it bites, it uses its lower jaw first, followed by upper one. Amazingly, even if any of the teeth is lost, its place is taken by another as sharks have rows of backup teeth! Every shark is meat eater and their normal diet is fishes, seals and dolphins, seagulls as well as turtles. Some sharks even feed on other sharks. Mostly, the dangerous species include Hammerhead, Tiger, Bull and the Mako shark.
Their babies are known as pups. The process of giving birth can be any of the three; eggs like birds, eggs hatching inside mother or pup sharks growing inside mother. Once the babies are born, sharks leave them on their own. But they do ensure a safe place for birth. Shark’s skin is normally used to make leather products, while its steak and fin soups are quite common in many countries’ delicacies. Till 50s, its liver was a great source of Vitamin A. The most important thing that make these a very fierce and successful predator is dedication of 2/3rd of its entire brain to the sense of smell.
